You may or may not remember a pair of group announcements I sent out this past month, regarding Caledon's participation in Relay For Life (RFL). My first one was a mistake, because I was not aware that Caledon was still participating, as some others were also not aware. In the early days of The Wastelands we had participated there for the first few years, and then we always, ALWAYS missed when things were starting for RFL -- because our birthday celebrations are that week. It's something I always tried to contribute where I could. I've made content with other creators at various RFL events, chipped in whatever Lindens I could spare, and other things I've forgotten. |

I KNEW Caledon participated in RFL at some point, and my general impression upon taking over is that we hadn't. But the fact is how Caledon participates had changed. I think that the confusion about Caledon's participation as it currently is, could easily be tackled. After talking with a lot of people this past month, and apologizing to many of them, I think that if we restructure how we participate, we'd not only bring more awareness, but clamp down on potential drama of the past. |

It is my understanding that several folks here have regularly made contributions over the years, and I think that's awesome. I plan to talk with them a bit more. My hope is to develop a sub-team for ACTS. Not to raise independently, because we all have a common goal. Instead, to assign a few Caledon specific leaders and planners, who would coordinate with ACTs and Caledon. I haven't asked the folks who've been contributing if they like this idea, but since this is a community meeting I'm just putting it out there. Ideally, I'd like to make them the team leads for Caledon, and they'd report to 1 or 2 people who'd report to ACTS. From there we can drum up further support, and volunteers for Caledon related RFL builds and events, to report to the team leads here. |

I want to establish some guidelines on how we tackle that. My initial thought is to just make things be volunteer, no pressure to host anything. RFL in SL is a weird little animal, though. Sure, the base measure is how much money is raised...but...it's a TON more than that. It's one of the things that the ACTS team has been brilliant at.
